Where They Went - What They Did
Many of our partners minister in the deepest corners of the Amazon Rainforest, or in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, seeking to convey a clear Gospel and invite people into a deeper understanding of who God is. As you traverse through Peru’s jungle villages, desert expanses, urban plazas, and mountain peaks, you will find the decaying remnants of an ancient empire and many locals who maintain deep ties to their cultural heritage and indigenous beliefs.
View Country PageNext you will head to Chile, which stretches two-thirds the length of South America and is home to an impressively varied climate: from the world’s driest desert in the north, to Patagonia in the south. It is a country rich in history, culture, and the arts, and is a popular tourist destination in South America. Chile is also one of the most prosperous and successful countries on the continent, with a high standard of living and continual economic growth. There are a lot of people in Chile who identify as christians but don’t know the love of Jesus. Racers will get the opportunity to share the hope we have in Christ.
View Country PageYour final month in South America will wrap up in Argentina. Argentians are very social and love to spend hours talking and catching up over cups of mate. They are very proud of their country and believe they have the best of everything. Argentina has the capacity to be a missionary-sending nation, our vision there is to empower them toward this goal!
View Country PageNext you will journey to the large and diverse nation of South Africa. This nation is incredibly multicultural and it still healing from it's dark and painful history of racism and segregation. This country has 11 official languages, coastlines on two oceans and world famous mountain views. Racers in South Africa focus a lot of their time on evangelism through the school systems. You might find yourself discipling middle and high school students through sports ministry, teaching life skills or assisting with academic classes.
View Country PageNext stop: Ethiopia, a nation that has never been colonized and is one of oldest cultures in the world. The people there are deeply passionate about families and being together. All meals are eaten from collective plates and absolutely nothing can start without their signature coffee ceremony. Senior citizens in Ethiopia are often neglected, so you might find yourself spending the day comforting the elderly.
View Country PageNext your journey will take you to Europe. Spain sits on the Western edge of the only post-Christian continent on the planet. The birthplace of bullfights, the Inquisition, and tapas, this land of deep passion needs new life breathed into their faith. Though 94% of Spaniards would declare themselves Roman Catholic, only 25% of the nation attends a religious service once a month. Whether you are hiking the Camino de Santiago with other pilgrims or sitting at a cafe, will you share your life-changing faith in a land of tradition and religion?
View Country PageYour journey will take you next to Macedonia. Formerly part of Yugoslavia, the Eastern European nation of Macedonia received independence in 1991. While the nation has undergone serious economic reform since then, with over 70% of the population struggling to make ends meet, it has one of the poorest economies in Europe. With 65% of the nation Eastern Orthodox and 33% Muslim, Macedonia also has the 5th highest percentage of Muslims in Europe. As this new nation still struggles for solid footing in uncertain times, you will share the life-saving truth that complete security comes from dependence on Christ.
View Country PageThe very last stop in Europe will take you to the ancient and incredibly beautiful nation of Greece. This month you might find yourself serving in the refugee camps that popped up in 2015 in response to the European refugee crisis. You could spend your days helping with day-to-day tasks at the camps, passing out food, assisting with basic medical needs and teaching English. You may spend hours listening as people share stories of the pain and trials they have gone through. You will have the opportunity to be a welcoming presence, a light of hope and a carrier of the peace of Jesus Christ.
View Country PageNext, you will continue on to a nation like no other, India. Most Racers live and serve in Southern India, where the villages are bustling with activity and the streets are filled with horns blaring and tuk-tuks whizzing by. You’ll experience India with all your senses as you walk through the sea of colors and take in the the myriad spices wafting through the air. Expect to be invited into someone’s home and offered chai often as people invite you to simply sit and talk.
View Country PageYour journey will take you north to Nepal, home to Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world! Nepal is a very spiritual, breathtaking and mountainous country. Most of our work in Nepal is about sharing the Gospel with marginalized people, especially those in rural areas. Whether you’re in the cities outlined by the Himalayas or trekking through the hills yourself, you’ll most likely find yourself walking long distances to share your faith over a cup of milk tea.
View Country PageThough Malaysia is technically a closed country, the people are eager and waiting to hear the Gospel. Build relationships with these diverse communities as you show them a lifestyle of following Jesus.
