A vibe like no other, this part of South Asia is home to over a billion people, 22 languages, and a mix of religions. And don’t even get us started on the mouth-watering, spice-packed cuisine! But, here’s the real talk – it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There’s a dark side too. The ancient caste system? Yeah, it’s still causing issues today. Social injustice, discrimination, and some seriously messed up stuff like forced prostitution and human trafficking are way too common. Imagine being treated as “untouchable” just because you have leprosy, or living in slums with barely enough to get by. It’s heartbreaking. But guess what? We’re not about to stand by. We’re all about spreading hope, love, and change in South Asia. Will you join us in making a difference in the lives of the poor, the abandoned, and the outcast?

Culture

Handshakes are common greetings in urban areas. In general, physical contact between opposite genders should be avoided.

It is not uncommon to see small children approaching stopped cars to ask for money.

Different religious groups have varying dietary restrictions. Hindus do not drink alcohol or eat beef or products with gelatin. Many Hindus are vegetarians, and consequently many restaurants have a wide selection of vegetarian options. Muslims typically do not eat pork or drink alcohol.

Go to Agra and tour some impressive structures like the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. Of course you must witness what some consider to be the most beautiful building in the world, The Taj Mahal.

Head down south to Mumbai for incredible beaches and food. Take a boat to Elephant Island, an island with with no elephants, lots of monkeys, and a bunch of cool caves.

If you are in Kolkata go to the Eden Garden, a massive cricket field. There is also the house where Mother Teresa conducted her ministry, her tomb, and a museum about her life.

    Adventures South Asia Base

    The Adventures Base in South Asia works to build relationships with locals and host and disciple teams that come through. The South Asia Base focuses on a nearby district with the goal of empowering and serving local pastors and missionaries to serve unreached people groups and plant churches.

  • Sarah’s Covenant Homes

    Sarah’s Covenant Homes

    Sarah’s Covenant Homes was established in 2008, beginning with one woman’s desire to adopt children with special needs. From there, it has expanded to seven family-foster homes serving more than 150 children and young adults with special needs. SCH aims to receive, rehabilitate, reunify, adopt, and give long-term care.

  • Bibles for the World

    Bibles for the World

    Meet Ro, he is the founder of Bibles for the World and his family was the first of the Hmar tribe to receive the Gospel. Ro translated the Bible to his native language after he recieved Christ and since then, the organization has helped to translate and provide over 100 million Bibles to 100 plus countries around the world. Bibles for the World also runs a hospital, seminary, and a school, and has planted churches all over the region.
