God Led a Man Searching for Truth to a World Racer

While on a typical bus ride in Malaysia, Kylee Krusemark met a man searching for truth. Their conversation was one she will never forget. “I’ve been waiting for a bus forever.” That’s all it took to begin a conversation I won’t soon forget. Mark* shared his reason for visiting this town in Malaysia. We shared ours. “So you’re Christian?” he asked. Mark then shared his beliefs about spirituality. He saw the benefits, especially in a moral sense. He believed in some form of divinity and that we are all on a journey to discover it. He saw it as though we are all climbing a mountain to...

7 Things I Learned About Missions

Today, the word “church” means different things to different people. For the month of May, we are trying to expand that definition. Jonathan Hogue dives into this by showing what missions actually is, expanding the narrow box he once held it in. In my seven months on the World Race, I’ve learned one major thing: Missions does not fit the small narrow box that I once held it in. Before coming on the Race, I held a lot of romantic ideas about what missions life would look like. But throughout this year, I’ve come to realize that missions is so much more than what the basic white...

How a God-given Dream Changed the World Race

Samantha Cook had a dream on the World Race that changed the way she lived her life on the Race. Dreams are one of my favorite inventions from God. Truly, how creative was He to decide that we should experience entirely different worlds while we sleep?! I’ve been pretty blessed with a vivid dream life, from nightly lucid dreams as a child to experiencing life after death (yes, I’ve died and gone to heaven twice in my dreams—ask me about it sometime!).  A couple months ago, on my orange sleeping pad in the sweltering heat of Cambodia, I had a dream that has stuck with me. It doesn’t sound...

Don’t Let Fear Stop You

Kayla Krynski was nervous about sharing her faith through evangelism on the Race. Then finally, she decided to just do it—and experienced the transformation of seeing God work through her in an amazing way. I’m walking down the street with a handful of Christian tracts clutched tightly in my sweating palm, repeating internally over and over, “just do the dang thing.” If you’d asked me five months ago if I was an evangelist I probably would’ve shifted uncomfortably, sidestepped your question, and given a sugary answer about how Jesus loves everybody. If you’d asked me three days ago, I...

I Am Wrong with the World

Race Alum Andrew Chambers proposes a new way to change the world and bring Kingdom to earth: from the inside out.  I’m currently living in Mijas, Spain, a beautiful mountainside pueblo overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It’s peaceful here, except for the barrage of newly retired British tourists walking around with their shirts off. The sun rises over the mountains as it illuminates the ocean. Coffee shops sleepily open for the day around 9 am, when the rest of the world is already at work. Residents stop to greet each other as they walk through the streets lined with white washed...

Teresa was on a run when she realized she was too comfortable in life. She felt the Lord calling her to do bold and risky things, like be homeless for four days.
