I spent the first two decades of my Christian life afraid of disappointing God. I was trying to be a good servant and live a good life so God would be happy with me. During my own journey as a World Racer, God revealed how deeply He loves me, and that His desire is to actually partner with me in this life.
This changed everything for me!
I've spent the last nine years partnering with God through the World Race, to help others awaken to how much their Father loves them and the great adventure of living and loving like Jesus. I can't wait to see what God has in store for you on your World Race journey.
I thought I was a Christian, but when I was 19 my view of everything (Jesus, the Bible, Church, Christianity) came tumbling down. I found myself angry and confused as I questioned what I had been told all my life. Little did I know I was on the path to making my faith my own. I spent the next few years figuring out who God was and what I believed. By the time I was 21, I decided Jesus was the answer. Since then, God has taken me from the slums of India to the mountains of Africa. He's transformed my heart, strengthened my faith, and given me purpose beyond myself. My story has given me a passion for the next generation because I know firsthand how influential those first few years out of high school are. I can't wait for you to join us on this journey!
My name is Deborah Ulsh, and I have worked with Adventures in Missions since 2015. I started in Admissions, served as a Gap Year Mentor for 3 years, and am now back in Admissions! I went on the World Race in 2014 and fell in love with this ministry, discipleship, and missions. I met my husband here at Adventures, and we got married in November of 2018. I am passionate about seeing people walk out their identity as sons and daughters of God! And I'll never say no to a good cup of coffee.
Mayrea came to know Christ as a teenager. As a young adult, she served on the mission field in Belize, Central America for six years, working with youth and children. After returning to the USA she married Tom and together they raised 5 children, all of whom have a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
The couple currently volunteers regularly at church and in the community with programs involving youth, such as 4-H and Master Gardeners. They celebrated 33 years of marriage this fall.
Tom was born into a Christian home while his parents were on the mission field in Japan.
He received the Lord as Savior at the age of 12 while watching a Billy Graham crusade. He attended the universities of Oral Roberts, receiving a BA in history and Indiana University for a joint MBA/JD degree. He has worked in several industries and practiced law for a few years. Presently, he and Mayrea own a small remanufacturing / distribution company in northern Indiana.
