Colombia

Mission Trips

The Basics

From the Andes Mountains to the Caribbean coastline and the Amazon Rainforest, Colombia is one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world. Colombia sits at the crossroads of Central and South America, allowing for a widespread diversity of cultures. Currently, there is a large influx of Venezuelan refugees coming through Colombia, putting a strain on its economic resources. Many in Colombia have been affected by homelessness, drug addiction, or violence from drug trafficking, but God is bringing hope and restoration.

Culture

Anytime you are invited into someone’s home, make sure to receive whatever food or drink that your hosts have prepared – it’s generally rude to reject an offer.

Colombians love their music, so get ready for plenty of dance parties!

Strategic Partners

  • Ciudad Refugio

Meet Pastor Douglas Calvano! Ciudad Refugio was created in response to the growing population of people living with addiction and in homelessness on the streets in the early 90s. Pastor Calvano built a place that now serves as a rehabilitation and recovery center, homeless shelter, church, bakery, children's ministry, feeding program, prison ministry, and so much more. We partner alongside Douglas, Rebekah, Harry and all the amazing Ciudad Refugio staff to help them accomplish their vision of restoring the people of Medellin.
