When disaster strikes, the call to serve becomes louder than ever. For Myles Willman, a World Race alum and founder of Harvest Catering in Gainesville, Georgia, that call was answered with a simple but profound “yes.” The first week of October, Myles and his team were on the ground in Black Mountain, North Carolina, preparing and serving over 2,000 meals to those affected by Hurricane Helene – including local families, volunteers, and first responders.

Myles’ journey from a World Racer to a community leader exemplifies what it means to live missionally. It’s not just about responding to immediate needs but about carrying the heart of service into every season of life. His catering team prepared nine meals for over 250 people during the weekend, proving that every act of service – no matter how simple – can have a profound impact.

How Harvest Catering is Making a Difference

Hurricane Helene has left a devastating mark on the communities surrounding Black Mountain, leaving many without basic necessities like food, water, and gas. As relief efforts ramped up, Myles and his team not only fed hungry mouths but also offered hope to those who needed it most.

But it’s not just about food; it’s about the message behind the meal. For Myles, serving isn’t just meeting physical needs – it’s an opportunity to show the love of Christ in a tangible way. It’s about living on mission even after the World Race, proving that the lessons learned on the field continue to resonate long after the trip ends.

Adventures Relief Steps In

Myles and his team weren’t serving alone. Adventures Relief has been on the front lines of the Hurricane Helene response, partnering with Excel College to run a distribution center that’s delivering aid across the region. Thanks to generous donations, Adventures Relief has already met its initial $10,000 goal, providing water, gas, and porta potties to the hardest-hit areas. But the work is far from over.

With the partnership between Harvest Catering and Adventures Relief, more than 2,000 meals were provided over the course of a few days. This goes beyond a one-time act of service – it’s part of a larger movement to restore hope and bring the Kingdom of God into places affected by disaster.

How You Can Pray and Partner:

  • Pray for strength and perseverance for those who’ve experienced loss and for the church to rise up in unity.
  • Continue to give as the need for long-term recovery efforts grows. Your generosity is making a lasting difference.
  • Join the relief efforts – in the coming days and weeks, Adventures Relief will need volunteers to carry this mission forward. Are you feeling called to serve?

The Ripple Effect of Living on Mission

Myles’ story is a beautiful illustration of how the World Race transforms lives long after the 11-month journey ends. It shows the ripple effect of saying “yes” to God – whether you’re serving in a foreign country or stepping up to help your local community after a disaster.

For Myles, the World Race laid the foundation for a life of service, a life of answering the call to go where God leads. Today, he’s bringing that same heart to Black Mountain, proving that the mission is never truly over.
