Journey School is designed primarily for homeschool grads – Kids whose parents have been heavily involved in their education. Many times, these are the families who are craving more than traditional college.

How It Works

Journey School is a different kind of higher ed college experience. It is designed as an alternative to traditional colleges and universities. It combines college with missions – and so much more.

JS is built on three key components, all of which are especially dear to most homeschool grads.

1. Personal Growth AND a College degree

We help you uncover who God created you to be — and we launch you into your career

You get college credit and your degree – You take online classes and earn a degree from the accredited college you choose. Check our list of Journey School colleges
You get an experienced mentor. – who helps you create a personal development plan.
You get connected to the next step after you finish college – After you finish JS, we help you land an internship or a job in one of our networked businesses, ministries or startups to set you off on your career.

2. Community

One of the toughest challenges is finding a community of tight-knit peers. JS helps you:

Connect deeply your team – Together, you minister to “the least of these” wherever you are during your Journey School travels. And you form powerful bonds with your friends.
Pursue your interests / curiosities – Your team helps you uncover them and run after your natural interests.
Develop your skills – Your advisor / tutor and your team help you apply what you learn in class to your future career

3. Mission

Your journey includes overseas missions.

International work – Each semester, you and your teammates travel abroad to a JS campus. You work locally on mission with experienced mentors and leaders.
International projects – Each semester while abroad, you work on a business project. You help the project while learning valuable skills.

At this point in Journey School’s growth, we’re focusing primarily on homeschool families. However, for the right applicant, we’ll make an exception. Is that you? Our unique discipleship model is designed to help you walk in your true Identity, nurture your faith and empower you to step into your calling as a leader – of yourself, of others, and of other leaders.

When you join Journey School, you’ll have a dedicated, personal mentor and a community of other students by your side every step of the way.

We believe that God has a unique plan for your life. We’ll work with you to discover the extraordinary path He has for you. He wants to give you more than a diploma. He wants to give you a life of passion and purpose! We want to help you discover that life and purpose and equip you to grab it with both hands.

Costs

The Journey School is priced so most students can graduate with very little or even no debt. First, we’ve negotiated for very low prices for the online college courses. Second, you have a choice of various colleges and universities, so you can choose the tuition that best fits your budget. Third, you can raise funds. You ask friends, family members and church friends to support you by making tax-deductible donations that help cover the non-tuition portions of your yearly costs. Fourth, scholarships are available. As a result, by accessing the college’s available financial aid, using their own savings, raising funds, applying for a Journey School scholarship, getting parental help if possible and working during summer and winter breaks, most students can get the degree they want without needing student loans. Some students also work while attending Journey School, much as many students do while attending traditional college. You are welcome to do so at Journey School as well, provided you can handle the load.

At Journey School, we encourage your dreams and provide an environment where critical thinking, exploration, and rich discussions are the norm. Journey School was founded by Seth Barnes of Adventures in Missions (AIM) (https://adventures.org/) in Gainesville, Georgia. AIM has been discipling young people for over 20 years and has sent over 160,000 students on cross cultural mission trips. We believe in The Great Commission to preach the good news to all the Nations.

At Journey School, you and your classmates spend a portion of each semester at one of AIM’s international mission bases or in a home designated by a trusted Adventures partner. You will experience life-changing missions, grow in leadership, and embark on a unique educational journey.

Beyond the diploma!

At Journey School, we believe students need more than just a diploma. Our graduates gain vital Life Skills paired with biblical discipleship and character training to be salt and light on the earth.

We empower you to thrive in mind, body, and spirit. Our world-class education is enhanced by personal coaching and mentorship, equipping you with a personal Life Path and the specific skills needed to turn your dreams into reality. We know that graduating from high school and moving towards adulthood is a big transition. We believe you deserve time and space to figure things out.

Your mentors will help you seek The Lord and create your personal Life Path. We are here to help you answer the age old question… What do I want to do with my life? What is God calling me to? For those students that choose to return to Journey School after their first semester we offer degree programs for an Associates or Bachelors degree!

How Do I Handle Donations?

There are two parts to your Journey School costs. Each part is treated differently.

Tuition Funds. Your payments for tuition go directly to the college where you enroll. These payments are not tax-deductible.

Ministry Funds. When people donate to your Journey School account, those donations are tax-deductible for the people who gave them. Your donors make those payments online to your account at Journey School.

Who is Journey School?

Journey School has been operating alternative higher education experiences for 5 years. It is run by Adventures In Missions, which sponsors the World Race among other missions programs and has graduated 160,000 people from missions experiences in its 35 years of existence. Adventures has missions bases in many countries around the globe and is especially known for its emphasis on making disciples.

Who is Christian Halls International?

CHI is an established international ministry that has been providing alternative college experiences for more than five years. CHI has relationships with several of the colleges Journey School offers.
