During their time in Cambodia, this Racer and their team immersed themselves in the local way of life, navigating tuk tuk rides and bartering in the markets, all while overcoming language barriers. The generosity and kindness of the Cambodian people made these challenges worthwhile and highlighted the deep connections being formed.

Their primary mission was with People for Care and Learning (PCL), where they served as teacher assistants in English classes. While the work might have seemed straightforward – helping students learn English – the impact was profound. In a city bustling with tourism, proficiency in English opens doors for locals, improving their job prospects and interactions with visitors. Although the team wasn’t directly evangelizing in the classroom, their role was pivotal in supporting the ministry’s broader mission.

One Racer noted that even when it seemed hard to see the immediate effects of their work, they trusted that their contributions were part of a larger, divine plan. Their efforts were not just about teaching English but about creating bridges to the local church and its activities, potentially leading students to explore their faith further.

As the team approached a break from their regular school duties, they looked forward to engaging with other ministries and serving in nearby villages. This transition marked a new chapter in their mission, offering fresh opportunities for outreach and community involvement.

One particularly memorable moment for the Racer was the arrival of their long-delayed luggage. It might seem like a small victory, but it was a reminder of God’s provision and care amidst the challenges of missionary life.
This story serves as a testament to the transformative power of the World Race experience. It’s a reminder that even seemingly small acts of service can have a significant impact. The Racer’s journey in Cambodia exemplifies the core values of the World Race: dedication, adaptability, and a deep commitment to making a difference in the world.

As we look back on these experiences, we’re reminded of the importance of supporting and praying for those who take on such transformative journeys. Their stories inspire us to recognize the value in every step of the mission and the profound effects of faith-driven service.
