“I realized that God didn’t just want my work or my time – He wanted my heart,” Frances shared. “He wanted me to rest in His love, to trust Him completely, and to know that I am enough simply because I am His.”

Learning to Abide

One of the most transformative lessons Racers learn on the field is what it means to abide in Christ. For Frances, abiding meant letting go of the need to perform or prove herself and instead leaning fully into God’s presence.

Jesus calls us to abide in Him in John 15:4-5: “Abide in me, and I in you… for apart from me you can do nothing.” This became a guiding truth for Frances during her Race. Through the rhythms of daily devotionals, team worship, and quiet moments in nature, she cultivated a deeper connection with God.

She described one moment of sitting under the stars, overwhelmed by the beauty of creation, and hearing God’s voice whisper His love over her. “Intimacy with God is like sitting with your best friend,” Frances explained. “It’s not about saying the right thing or doing something profound – it’s about being with Him and letting Him fill you with His peace.”

Freedom in God’s Presence

As Frances grew in intimacy with God, she discovered a new kind of freedom—freedom from fear, striving, and self-doubt. “I stopped worrying about whether I was enough or if I was doing things the ‘right’ way,” she said. “Instead, I started asking, ‘How can I reflect God’s love today?’”

This shift transformed the way Frances approached both her ministry and her personal life. No longer burdened by the need to perform, she found joy and confidence in simply being with God. As 2 Corinthians 3:17 reminds us, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
