The Basics
Home to Mount Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti, Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Over 68% of the population lives below the international poverty line of $1.25 a day. Malnutrition and starvation are daily struggles for many.
The Zanzibar Archipelago was once the center for the Arab slave trade in the 1800s and now the entire country of Tanzania is currently a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking.
The nation is also home to many Burundi refugees.
Will you share the freedom and hope of Jesus Christ in Tanzania?
Culture
Handshakes tend to be energetic and very often linger a bit (lasting anywhere from one minute to ten). For men, a handshake is appropriate in most situations. For women, a handshake and/or bow is appropriate in most situations. Always use your right hand when shaking hands.
It is also appropriate for two men to walk hand in hand in public.
The left hand should never be used to give or receive objects. To indicate an object, use the chin rather than the hand or finger.

Explore
Check out (or even try to climb!) Mount Kilimanjaro, the largest mountain in Africa. It has three dormant volcanic peaks and reaches 19,341 feet above sea level.
Mount Meru has many different waterfalls to explore.
The Maasai Market in downtown Arusha is a great place for tourist shopping.
Go on a safari to get a glimpse of Africa’s Big Five Game Animals.
If you’re near Lake Malawi, spend a day at Malaika Beach Resort.
