Mission Trips
The Basics
Once a part of Romania and a former Soviet Republic, Moldova declared independence in 1991.
Immediately after, the economy severely declined. Because it relies so heavily on agriculture, Moldova is the poorest country in Europe.
It is also riddled with underground crime and is a vulnerable transit point for human trafficking.
With over 93% of the population practicing Orthodoxy, this is a land steeped in tradition and history. Because the main language is Romanian, there’s debate as to what the Moldovan ethnicity is exactly.
Will you share the peace of God over a land searching for hope and identity?
Culture
Moldovans can be quite indirect so as not to offend anybody. They tend to tell you what they think you want to hear. They also stand close to people they are speaking with.
Explore
Just outside of Chisinau is the second largest underground winery in the world.
Also outside of Chisinau is Manastirea Curchi, an incredibly beautiful monastery located atop a hill.
Orheiul Vechi is a beautiful sight to behold and dates back to the 10th century.
