The crossroads between Western Asia and Eastern Europe, Georgia has the deepest known cave in the world.
Formerly part of the USSR, in 2007 the World Bank dubbed the nation “the number one economic reformer in the world” due to its developing economy and natural resources, growing tourist popularity, and oil pipeline.
Almost 84% of the population are members of the Georgian Orthodox church, which claims to be founded by the Apostle Andrew.
Will you be part of this nation’s continuing growth as you live and serve in one of the first locations of the Early Church?
Culture
Open displays of affection beyond the kiss-on-the-cheek greeting are inappropriate in public, though people of the same genders may hug each other. Women are expected not to stare, and to cover their knees, shoulders, and heads when entering a church.
Explore
Georgia sits in the Caucasus Mountains and has numerous national parks and nature reserves. This is a perfect place to hike, climb, and explore waterfalls.
If you get a chance, head down to Batumi and spend a day on the Black Sea coast.
