Often called the birthplace of civilization, Greece is known for its deep cultural history.

Though Greece ranks high on the list of tourist destinations, it is also ranked third in the world for highest unemployment rate.

Over the past few years, Greece’s financial crisis has topped the news highlights, and most recently it was a major transition point for refugees.

Still at the forefront of today’s news, Greece is in need of hope.

Will you follow in the steps of Apostle Paul and share God’s love in a country that was once a hub for Christianity?

Culture
Greeks are very outgoing. Social life centers around family and friends hanging out while eating, drinking, playing games, dancing, and having lively conversation with each other. The point is to achieve kefi, the euphoria and relaxation that comes through celebration.

Hospitality is both an honor and a responsibility. Foreigners often find themselves invited to local homes. Being invited to join in a family celebration is a big honor.
Explore
The town of Molyvos is beautiful and fun to see, with a castle and nearby hot springs.

If you get a chance, explore Athens. There is so much history there, like the Acropolis and the Olympic Stadium. And don’t forget to get a gyro while you are there!

If you get a chance, head down to the islands. Santorini, with its beautiful blue and white buildings, is stunning. Jump off cliffs into the Aegean Sea or just sit and watch the sun set. It’ll be a day you never forget.
