For generations, the path after high school has felt pretty straightforward: graduate, choose a college, pick a major, earn a degree, and hope somewhere along the way you figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life.

But for a generation growing up in a rapidly changing world, that path doesn’t always feel so simple anymore.

What if your next season gave you room to explore your calling before choosing a career? What if learning happened through real problems, real cultures, meaningful mentorship, and a deeper relationship with God? What if education prepared you not only for a job, but for a life of purpose?

That’s the vision behind Journey School, a Christian leadership program for young adults ages 18-23.

And the 2027 Year 1 class is now open.

Experiential Learning and Christian Leadership

Journey School was created around a simple idea: some of the most important things you’ll ever learn can’t be memorized for a test.

You learn leadership by leading. You learn communication by navigating real relationships. You discover your strengths by putting them to work. You learn about the world by stepping into cultures different from your own, and you learn to trust God by actually following Him into places where you don’t already know the outcome.

Imagine having a conversation about faith with your mentor on a mountainside, working through a real-world project with your peers, serving alongside a local ministry, or wrestling with questions about your future while experiencing a completely different culture.

Suddenly, the world becomes your classroom.

Journey School brings together experiential education, Christian discipleship, and global missions to help you build a spiritual foundation for whatever comes next.

An 8-Month Missions Gap Year Experience

The 2027 Journey School experience is a comprehensive missions gap year that spans eight months and seven countries across Asia and Australia.

From August 30 through April 14, you’ll live and learn alongside a community of other young adults who are asking many of the same questions you are.

Questions to Explore During Your Gap Year

Who has God created me to be? What am I good at? What kind of problems do I want to help solve? How do I build a meaningful life with Jesus at the center of it?

You don’t have to arrive knowing the answers. That’s part of the reason you come.

As you travel, serve alongside local ministries, learn from mentors, and experience life outside your normal environment, you’ll have space to explore those questions through experience rather than theory.

Because sometimes you learn more about yourself by stepping into the world than you ever could by sitting at home trying to plan your future.

Deepening Your Faith Through Global Missions

Journey School also gives you the opportunity to explore what following Jesus looks like beyond familiar environments.

Faith becomes something you practice in community, in service, in conversations, in decisions, and in the way you respond when things don’t go according to plan.

Through short-term missions and cultural immersion, you’ll encounter communities that may challenge the way you’ve always seen the world. You’ll meet Christians whose expressions of faith look different from your own. You’ll serve alongside people already doing meaningful Kingdom work in their communities.

Through it all, you’ll have mentors and peers walking with you as you learn to recognize God’s voice, understand your identity, and discover how your gifts can be used to serve others.

The goal is a faith that travels home with you and shapes whatever you choose next.

A Launching Point for Your Future

Eight months may sound like a long time when you’re standing at the beginning of it.

But in the scope of your life, it’s a remarkably small investment in understanding who you are and where you’re going.

Journey School is a discipleship program for young adults designed to help you move into your next season with greater clarity, whether that leads to college, ministry, or a career.

You have plenty of time to build a résumé.

This is a chance to build a foundation.
