El Salvadorans are very conversational and love to speak with foreigners. Many speak English due to their country’s close relationship with the United States. Close friends may hug and kiss on the right cheek. Men will shake hands with women, although they will wait for the woman to extend her hand.
When invited to a home, it is recommended that you bring a gift of food, drink, or flowers.
Gender roles in El Salvador tend to be quite traditional, where the man is the breadwinner and the wife takes care of the home.
