Mission Trips
The Basics
Although it’s one of the most sparsely populated countries on earth, Botswana has the third highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world—next to its neighbor, Swaziland.
The nation itself struggles with drought and desertification, yet it boasts the largest elephant population on earth.
Around 70% of the population professes Christianity and attends church regularly, but 20% of the nation does not practice any religion.
Our ministry partners in Botswana envision a Church rising up and taking the Gospel throughout the entire nation, sending missionaries to the least evangelized villages in their areas.

Culture
Shaking hands is a common greeting. In northern parts of the country, when greeting an elderly person, you have to kneel and give them both of your hands if they are seated. If they are not seated, just bow slightly and offer your two hands.
Once you have made a friend, a handshake upon meeting may turn into holding hands for the duration of the conversation.
Most people generally don’t mind talking to a person very close to them, but usually keep a distance of an outstretched arm’s length from each other.
