Today, we hopped on the train to Castellammare to serve at Caritas. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the staff and given some yummy treats. We then learned that Caritas was born out of helping poor people through the love of Jesus. We served by cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the kitchen, and cleaning the walkway. After our cleaning duties were done, we joined some of the community for lunch. Later that night, we all helped out with a youth camp. I’ll admit I was a little nervous because I don’t speak any Italian. However, I was super blessed to have girls who were more than willing to have conversations with me via Google Translate. We had so much fun playing telephone charades and guessing colors in a box. To end the night, we had a wonderful dinner hosted by Don Rito. We all chatted about how God has challenged us and shown us beauty by stepping outside our comfort zone.
