Before you fill this out: a note from us.
This application asks you to disclose intimate things about your life — your mental and emotional health, your faith walk, your relationships, your past. We're asking because the Race is hard, and we want to help you walk through it well. Not because we're looking for a reason to say no.
Checking "Within the past year" or "Current" on any of these is not an automatic disqualifier. We are looking for honesty and a willingness to be discipled through your story. What concerns us most is when applicants tell us they have nothing to share. The Race is for people who can be coached and discipled through hard things — which means you have to be willing to tell us about hard things.
Your responses are read by your admissions interviewer and, if relevant, the field leadership team. They are kept confidential.
I've read the note above and I understand that honesty is what's being asked of me.
A reminder before you continue: Marking "Within the past year" or "Current" on any of these is not an automatic disqualifier. We're asking because honesty here is what makes the field safe for you. Vagueness is what we're concerned about — not your story.
This section is the most sensitive one in the application. We ask because what's currently active in your life shapes what discipleship and support will look like on the field. Disclosure here doesn't disqualify you — it tells us how to walk with you well.
Your responses are confidential to your admissions interviewer and, if relevant, your field leadership team.
The next three prompts are not "tell us about yourself" prompts. They're specific. The more concrete and current you can be, the more useful your application is to us. Vague answers tell us less than honest, specific ones — even uncomfortable ones.
This is your space to tell us how you came to faith and how your walk has unfolded since. We don't need a polished version — we want a true one.
Your interviewer will read this before your readiness conversation, and we'll likely come back to specific moments from it when we talk.
We'll be reaching out to your home pastor (or youth pastor) for a 10-minute call as part of our process. This is a normal part of the admissions journey — it gives us a fuller picture of who you are and helps us walk with you well. Please give us a primary pastoral contact, plus one backup non-family adult who's known you for at least 2 years.
Before you submit:
Take a minute. Re-read your three prompts and your testimony. Ask yourself: Am I telling the truth here, or am I telling the version that makes me look good? If you want to revise, go back.
Once you submit, you will be able to schedule an interview with our World Race staff.
