World Race: August 2019 Route 1

World Race: Unscripted is a World Race journey that travels to 11 countries for 11 months with a primary focus of cultivating a lifestyle of listening and responding to the voice of God. As an Unscripted Racer you will minister to the people that God leads you to each day - much like the early disciples did. This journey will teach you to listen for God’s voice and have it lead you to ministry opportunities. The goal of this experience is to train you to live a mission focused lifestyle that continues long after your 11 month journey.

Bolivia

Bolivia

Although the poorest country in South America, Bolivia is the wealthiest in terms of natural resources. From the Andes Mountains to the Amazon Basin, Bolivia is full of natural beauty. However, the truth wealth of Bolivia is its people. The most indigenous country in South America, over 60% of the population traces their heritage back to one of over 30 different ethnic groups. Ancient traditions and social customs heavily influence the local culture. Will you share your life-changing faith in Bolivia?


Chile

Chile

Because Chile stretches two-thirds the length of South America, it is home to an impressively varied climate: from the world’s driest desert in the north to Patagonia in the south. It is a country rich in history, culture, and the arts, and is a popular tourist destination in South America. Chile is also one of the most prosperous and successful countries on the continent, with a high standard of living and continual economic growth. About 85% of its people live in major cities, with the rest of the population in more rural areas. There is so much this beautiful country has to offer the world. Will you serve God and join where He is at work in Chile?


Argentina

Known as a Crisol de Razas, or “a crucible of races,” Argentina is the largest Spanish-speaking country in South America and the 8th largest country in the world. It is a nation of immigrants, where the mix of languages and cultures have created something all its own. It is also a nation of tradition. And while 92% declare Roman Catholicism as their religion, only 20% actively practice it. The people of Argentina long for a relationship with Christ. Will you share your faith in Argentina?

Spain sits on the Western edge of the only post-Christian continent on the planet. One of history’s first global empires, its language is the 3rd most spoken in the world. The birthplace of bullfights, the Inquisition, and tapas, this land of deep passion needs new life breathed into their faith. Though 94% of Spaniards would declare themselves Roman Catholic, only 25% of the nation attends a religious service once a month. Whether you are hiking the Camino de Santiago with other pilgrims or sitting at a cafe, will you share your life-changing faith in a land of tradition and religion?


Montenegro

Montenegro

Known as “Black Mountain”, Eastern Europe’s Montenegro shares borders with Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Albania. Formerly part of the Communist Yugoslavia, the nation is still recovering from the impact of Yugoslav wars of the 1990s. Having declared independence from Serbia in 2006, Montenegro is currently working to be the newest member of the European Union. Ethnic tension runs generations deep. With so many people groups living within this tiny nation; they are most united in their religion: over 70% practice Serbian Orthodoxy, while the Albanian citizens (19%) are Sunni Muslim. This is a country of deep wounds and even greater dreams; they are hungry for the hope and healing found through life in Jesus Christ.

Formerly part of Yugoslavia, the Eastern European nation of Macedonia received independence in 1991. While the nation has undergone serious economic reform since then, with over 70% of the population struggling to make ends meet, it has one of the poorest economies in Europe. With 65% of the nation Eastern Orthodox and 33% Muslim, Macedonia also has the 5th highest percentage of Muslims in Europe. As this new nation still struggles for solid footing in uncertain times, you will share the life-saving truth that complete security comes from dependence on Christ.

Often called the birthplace of civilization, Greece is known for its deep cultural history. Ranking high on the list of tourism destinations, Greece is also ranked third in the world for highest unemployment rate. Over the past few years, Greece's financial crisis has topped the news highlights, and most recently it was a major transition point for refugees. Still at the forefront of today’s news, Greece is in need of hope. Follow in the steps of Apostle Paul and share God’s love in a country that was once a hub for Christianity.


Ethiopia

Located in the Horn of Africa, Middle Eastern and African tribal influences touch every corner of Ethiopia. The birthplace of coffee, literary and archaeological discoveries date back to Bible times. The Orthodox Church even claims to have the Ark of the Covenant. It’s also a nation well acquainted with pain. In the last century, civil wars and famine devastated the land. Those in rural villages remain isolated, without clean water or access to markets, and the country’s ability to provide basic services is strained. Will you share the love of Jesus with people hungry for hope?

Who hasn't heard of Kenya in their lifetime? The Kenyan people are colorful, musical, artistic and hungry for the love of Christ. The Maasai bush, the Nairobi metropolis, and the Kibera slums comprise a country diverse yet unified in history. As a new era dawns in Kenya, so does the gospel of truth and faith. By meeting felt needs in the bush and the city, participants help bear lasting fruit with current ministry partnerships (ministries like evangelism, orphan care, and community development), and build foundations of future partnerships.


India

India

With nearly a sixth of the world's population, India is home to 29 languages, the religious practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and tribal religions, some of the spiciest food on the planet, and a highly segregated rich and poor class. Thanks to the ancient caste system, crimes of social injustice, discrimination, forced prostitution, and human trafficking occur daily. Baby girls are often killed and abandoned, simply because of the financial burden on their families. Lepers are treated as untouchables, and the poorest of the poor live in slums. Will you share hope with the poor, abandoned, and outcast in India?

Home to Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain, Nepal literally sits on top of the world. In addition to adventurous experiences you will have here, you may also visit widows and orphans in their times of distress and protect the innocent who are prey to human traffickers. This month of your World Race experience will submerge you in a culture that is desperate for an encounter with the living God.
