Before the Year Ends: What If You Said Yes to Something That Changes You?

As the year comes to a close, there’s a natural pause in the air. Calendars slow down. Conversations turn reflective. We start asking quieter questions – the ones we don’t always make space for during the rush of everyday life.
What did this year shape in me? What did it reveal? And what am I carrying into the next one?
For many people, the end of the year becomes a time for resolutions. But for others, it becomes something deeper: a moment of discernment. A sense that God may be inviting them into something new, something stretching, something meaningful.
On the World Race, we see this moment again and again.

The Power of a Simple Yes
Most Racers don’t begin the year knowing exactly where it will lead. They don’t have every detail figured out. They don’t feel perfectly prepared. What they often have is a quiet stirring, a sense that staying comfortable no longer feels faithful.
That’s where change begins.
A yes doesn’t arrive with certainty attached. It comes with questions, courage, and trust. It’s the decision to step forward even when the path ahead feels unclear. And time after time, we’ve watched that yes open the door to transformation.
Looking Back, Looking Ahead
When Racers reflect on their year, they rarely talk first about the places they went. They talk about who they became.
They talk about learning to listen: to God, to others, to themselves. They talk about community that challenged them, healed them, and held them steady. They talk about discovering strength they didn’t know they had and grace they didn’t know how deeply they needed.
And almost always, they say a version of the same thing:
“I didn’t know how much this would change me.”
The end of the year has a way of clarifying what matters. It invites honesty. It strips away noise. It makes room for God to speak, not with pressure, but with invitation.

What If the End Is Also a Beginning?
What if this moment isn’t just about closing a chapter, but opening one?
What if the questions you’re asking right now, about purpose, faith, direction, and meaning, aren’t problems to solve, but invitations to respond?
The World Race exists for people standing at that threshold. People who feel the weight of the world and still believe hope belongs in it. People who want their lives to be shaped by something deeper than routine. People willing to say yes, even when they don’t yet see the whole picture.
As This Year Ends
You don’t need to rush your answer. You don’t need to have it all figured out. But if something in you is stirring, a quiet nudge, a holy curiosity, a longing for more, pay attention to it. God often speaks most clearly in these in-between moments.

Before the year ends, take a breath. Ask the question honestly. And consider what your yes might lead to next.
The journey could begin sooner than you think.
